"Maċa's passion for musical expression sees them explore many avenues and as a result their sound crosses many boundaries.”
-The Big Squeeze Festival
Maċa are a youthful energetic 3-piece Irish family band from New Ross Co. Wexford, who combine Irish Traditional music with world folk music. They share a passion for composing and creating their own music. The group consists of the Carty siblings, Saoirse (lead vocals, acoustic guitar), Naoise (violin, concertina, vocals), Ciara (bodhrán, percussion, whistle, flute, vocals).
The girls shot to prominence two years ago when they won TG4’s “Realta agus Gaolta”. A television talent competition searching for Ireland’s most talented family, although they have been playing, writing, and composing music together for a long time before they were dubbed Ireland's most talented family. They also share a passion for their native language and are all fluent Irish speakers.
For the past two years they have been honing their skills with a residency spot at “Raglan Road” Disney, Orlando Florida, playing to hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world.
In addition to Maċa enthralling audiences on Irish National TV and Radio Stations the sisters’ skilled musicianship has led them to appear at such prestigious events at the Olympia Theatre, Mermaid Theatre, Temple Bar Trad-Fest Dublin, Kilkenny Trad-Fest, the Aero Irish Festival in Marstal Copenhagen, Wexford Spiegel Tent, to name just a few.
Maċa were also invited to share stages in a special guest capacity with some illustrious Irish performers including KÍLA, Sharon Shannon, Johnny Logan, Seán Keane, Eddi Reader, Bagatelle and Aslan.
